Dubai Insurance (Dubins) Overview

Since it was founded 50 years ago, Dubai Insurance has steadily grown into a serious player in the insurance business in the UAE.

The company offers both business and consumer insurance products, including both personal and commercial motor insurance. Their other consumer products include home insurance, travel insurance, yacht (or pleasure craft) insurance, and medical insurance including Guardienne, which covers cancer.

The Dubai Insurance Company PSC (private joint stock company) was the first local insurance company founded in the emirate by the decree of His Highness, Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum in 1970. The company has really grown in the last decade or so. In the 10 years between 2008 and 2018 the Dubai Insurance Company’s written premiums grew from under AED 20 million to AED 500, and current yearly revenue stands at $129 million.

This growth has been built on a quality commercial offering. AM Best gave Dubai Insurance a financial strength rating of A- (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-” in May 2020. The company employs 127 staff and has made a number of commercial alliances with foreign insurers.
