All motorists in the UAE must have third-party insurance in order to legally drive in the country. The Oman Insurance third-party plan protects you against any liabilities to the person or property of a third party in the event of an accident where you are found to be at fault. This covers bodily injury as set by the UAE court, third party property damage up to AED 3,000,000, ambulance cover up to AED 6,770. If you want a little extra cover without opting for comprehensive cover, there are some added extras, which include personal accident benefit to the driver and passengers both up to AED 200,000, and roadside assistance.
Comprehensive cover offers third party property damage up to AED 3,500,000, personal accident for driver and passengers up to AED 200,000, emergency medical expenses up to AED 5,000 per person, agency repairs for up to three years, personal injury for driver and spouse while embarking/disembarking from the vehicle up to AED 30,000, personal belongings covered up to AED 5,000 per year, driving in Oman (although excess is doubled), emergency roadside assistance (24-7), courtesy car cash benefit (7-day maximum), windscreen cover up to AED 3,000 (no excess), coverage for natural disasters and strikes, riots, and civil commotions (SRCC), off-road for vehicles with that capability, valet parking theft.

Oman Car Insurance FAQs
How do I get a quote from the Oman Insurance Company?
Visit their online portal for individuals where you can get a quote, retrieve a quote you have previously been given, and renew your current motor insurance.
What does GAP insurance cover?
Both Premier Cover and InsureMyTesla from Oman Insurance include GAP insurance coverage. This is an acronym that stands for Guaranteed Asset Protection; it protects car owners when their standard insurance payout, which is known as ‘total loss payment’, does not cover the full value of the car.
GAP covers motorists who have bought a new car, because a great deal of the value of the vehicle is lost within the first few months, up to a year, of ownership. This means that if the car is stolen or written off in those first months, the owner will still be paid the full value of the car and not just, for instance, 60% which would usually be paid out in a ‘total loss payment’.
Do I have to make a claim if it is not my fault?
If you have been involved in an accident and it is not your fault, you do not have to pay to make a claim. However, if it was your fault, then you have to pay the excess.
I am moving to a different emirate, will I still be covered?
Contact Oman Insurance and they will carry out the necessary paperwork to make sure you are still covered.
Are overseas visitors covered on the comprehensive insurance package?
Yes, as long as they have a valid driving license and all the relevant permissions from the local traffic department.
