RSA Direct Insurance Review

RSA Company Overview

The RSA Insurance Group is one of the largest insurance companies in the world and has been operating in the UAE for more than 60 years. In fact they opened their first office here in 1956. They have offices in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi, as well as call centers across the region.

The company aims to put innovation at the heart of their business, and they have a wide range of products targeting the general consumer. As well as offering car insurance, they also offer home insurance, travel insurance, personal accident insurance and even golf insurance. RSA business products include motor fleet insurance.

The company was formed in London in 1996 through the merger of Sun Alliance and Royal Insurance, but it is descended from the world’s first insurance company, the Sun Fire Office, which was founded in 1710.

The package includes the same as Motor Smart with the addition of personal accident benefit for the driver, cover in GCC countries, temporary rent-a-car, no-claims discount protection, agency repairs, and breakdown recovery.

Plus, there is a 10% discount for online purchases. RSA say they have 99.46% claims satisfaction.

Value-added Extras

In addition to the three insurance packages, you can also buy temporary upgrades, which includes a temporary rent-a-car facility, personal accident benefit, and territory extension to other GCC countries.

You can also arrange for insurance for high-value and sports cars on a referral basis. Call 800 772 (RSA) for more information.

24-hour roadside cover is included as standard with the Motor Executive package, but can also be purchased as an optional extra for the other two packages. This covers the whole of the UAE and even Oman too. For immediate Roadside Assistance, please call 800 462 372, in Oman call +9714 387 6608.

RSA Claims Process

Before you make you claim you need to have the four following documents to hand:

  1. Policy number
  2. Driver’s license
  3. Copy of registration card (or Mulkiya)
  4. Police report

You can make your claim online, by emailing [email protected] or calling the claims team on 800 774.

Once you have registered your claim, you will receive email notification of your successful registration and your claim number. (If you don’t receive this notification, contact the Motor Claims Hotline at 800 774 from Saturday to Thursday.)
RSA will then get in touch to explain what to do next.

RSA Insurance FAQs

What is the excess (deductible)?

The excess is the amount you contribute to your claim(s) after an accident. For example, if the excess is AED 500 and repairs to your car amount to AED 4,000 then you will pay AED 500 and RSA (or any other insurance company) pays out the remaining AED 3,500

Does RSA cover Oman and other GCC countries?

The Sultanate of Oman is included within your policy and covers third party liability and own damage. However other GCC countries are not included.

Can other people drive the car insured by RSA under my name?

If you give consent and the person has had their driving license for more than a year and are over the age of 25, they can drive your car.

Can I transfer my car insurance to a new owner?

You cannot transfer a policy from one driver to another because the driver’s claim history affects the insurance premium and terms.
