Running a car in Ajman

Who do you call after an accident in Ajman?

For a minor accident with no injuries, use the Saaed app. Ajman Police adopted it for minor accident reports from 1 November 2020, after signing an agreement with Saaed in 2013.²³ Gulf News named the MOI or Saaed app for Ajman in December 2025, and Emirates 24|7 named the MOI website or app in June 2026.⁴⁵ Saaed’s undated locations page lists a site in Ajman.⁶

The fee you pay in Ajman is not published. MOI shows AED 500 for a minor report and names no emirate.⁷ Press reports give Dh400 for a report against an unknown vehicle.⁸ Treat both as unconfirmed for Ajman and check the amount in the app before you pay. Where do you register, test and renew your car?

Ajman Police’s Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department handles registration, and its FAST centres do the test and the renewal in one visit. Ajman Police announced the first FAST Centre for Vehicle Testing and Licensing Services in Al Jarf in August 2021, after two weeks of trial operation, with three inspection lanes for light and medium vehicles and motorcycles, fine payment, insurance services, export inspection, ownership transfer and replacement of lost or damaged ownership papers.⁹ Ajman Police inaugurated a second FAST centre in Al Rumaila in August 2026, run with the Security Services Support Authority.¹⁰

Renewal itself is a federal MOI service, so the fee is the same in Ajman as in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

MOI’s conditions: a new vehicle is exempt from the technical test for 3 years from its year of manufacture, a used vehicle must pass the test, insurance must run 13 months, and all dues must be paid first.¹¹ Documents, the grace period and what happens if you let registration lapse are in the registration renewal guide.

Do you pay tolls in Ajman?

No. u.ae names toll systems for Dubai and Abu Dhabi only.¹² You pay Salik when you drive into Dubai and Darb when you enter Abu Dhabi island. See the Salik guide.

What is the speed limit and radar setting on your street?

Read the sign, then check Table 2. Ajman Police publish a dataset of 20 streets with the posted limit and the speed at which a violation is recorded. On 19 streets the violation speed is 21 km/h above the sign, and on Al Zorah Street it is 20 km/h above. The dataset’s own margin column says 20 for every row, so the published violation speeds, not the margin column, are the figures to use.¹ The sign is the legal limit on every street, and from 1 January 2027 the federal regulation says fines are calculated from the sign. The limit changes at the border on the same road. Ajman lists Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road at 120 km/h, and Dubai Police list Mohammad Bin Zayed Road at 110 km/h on their side.¹¹³ Dubai’s list is in the speed limits guide.

Can you get a discount on your fines in Ajman?

Only during a campaign, and none has been reported in 2025 or so far in 2026. Ajman Police ran 50% campaigns in 2021, 2022 and 2024.¹⁴¹⁵¹⁶ The 2024 offer ran from 4 November to 15 December for violations committed in Ajman before 31 October 2024, and excluded endangering life, trucks overtaking where banned, driving more than 80 km/h over the limit, unlicensed vehicle changes and red light offences.¹⁶¹⁷ In 2022 and 2024 a light vehicle or motorcycle caught at a red light had its impound waived, with the fine and points unchanged.¹⁵¹⁶ Past campaigns were claimed through the MOI and police apps, Sahl kiosks and service centres.¹⁸

What do you do when rain damages your car?

Apply through the Ajman Police app for a destruction certificate, which is a To Whom It May Concern certificate your insurer can use. After the March 2026 rain, Ajman Police surveyed flooded areas, issued destruction and loss certificates for damaged cars and lost plates without an application, and said more than 94% of the service went through the Ajman Police app.¹⁹²⁰ No fee is stated.²⁰ Photograph the car, its plate and the water level before anything is moved. Where and when do you pay for parking?

Ajman Municipality and Planning Department runs public parking. Pay by text to 5155 or in the MPDA app. Gulf News gave the rate as Dh2 an hour in September 2022, with paid hours Saturday to Thursday from 8am to 1pm and 5pm to 10pm.²¹ From Saturday 7 November 2026, public parking on Sheikh Zayed Street, Al Salam Street and Al Hajin Street is paid. The department published maps of the covered bays.²²²³ Check the signs and the maps for current hours, because the 2022 rate and hours are the latest press figures found.

How busy and how safe are Ajman’s roads?

TomTom put Ajman’s 2025 congestion level at 34.1%, with 46 hours lost in rush hour over the year. Ras Al Khaimah’s figures were 24.0% and 33 hours, and Fujairah’s 23.2% and 29 hours.²⁴

MOI’s open data file “Traffic Cases 2025” records 2,074 traffic cases opened in Ajman in 2025, the third highest count after Dubai (3,350) and Abu Dhabi (2,519), and more than Sharjah (843). The 2024 file records 2,453 for Ajman. The files define the total as the number of traffic cases for each emirate and do not define a case, so these are not accident or death counts.²⁵²⁶²⁷

Ajman Police’s annual death counts reach the press as percentages more often than numbers. Ajman Police reported 18 deaths in 2017 against 19 in 2016, with 191 serious and 23,028 minor accidents and 262 injuries, and 15 deaths in 2019 against 17 in 2018.²⁸²⁹ For 2023 they reported deaths down 15%, injuries down 20% and serious accidents down 14%, without counts.³⁰ The portal’s own figures stop at 2012: 17 deaths from 203 serious accidents out of about 29,700 accidents of all kinds, down from 29 deaths in 2011.³¹ National series and the Ministry’s accident blocks by emirate are in the UAE traffic statistics study.

Which insurers are based in Ajman?

None of the insurers on the Central Bank’s September 2026 register carries Ajman in its name.³² Insurers from other emirates sell here through branches. Al Buhaira, a Sharjah insurer, lists an Ajman branch.³³ Where an insurer is based does not change your policy wording, which is set by the Central Bank’s unified policy.
