Is there a 50% traffic fine discount in Dubai? UAE discounts by emirate

Dubai Police publishes no fine discount as of 6 November 2026, and said in March 2026 that discounts were stopped. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah give 35% off within 60 days and 25% up to a year. Four other emirates have run short National Day campaigns, and none has been reported for 2026 yet.

Updated 8 min read

No. Dubai Police publishes no 50% traffic fine discount as of 6 November 2026. Its Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations told Emarat Al Youm in March 2026 that discounts were stopped, because accidents rose after each one and drivers delayed paying to wait for them.1 Dubai Police’s payment page names instalments and no discount, and its FAQ lists none.2,3

Which emirates give a discount right now?

Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. No campaign has been reported for 2026 in the other emirates.

The federal traffic law and Cabinet Resolution 174 of 2026, which starts on 1 January 2027, do not mention a fine discount.13,14 Each scheme on this page came from an emirate’s police or executive council.

Which discount applies to your fine?

Go by the emirate where the violation happened, and check the price there. Every scheme that states its scope covers violations committed in that emirate.15,9,16

One driver with a Dubai plate reported on Reddit in March 2026 that an Abu Dhabi fine showed AED 195 in TAMM and AED 300 in the RTA app, and that paying in TAMM cleared it on RTA.17

Your plate may not matter. Umm Al Quwain’s 2024 campaign covered cars registered in other emirates,15 and Ras Al Khaimah’s 2020 campaign covered plates from across the UAE.18 The Sharjah Executive Council’s announcement does not say whether other emirates’ plates qualify.6

Why do you keep reading about 35% or 50% in Dubai?

Those figures belong to other emirates, or to a 2019 Dubai scheme.

Is that discount offer online real?

Assume it is fake unless it appears on a police, RTA or MOI channel. Pay only through the official apps and websites of the police, RTA, TAMM or MOI.

In August 2025 Dubai Police reported arresting a group advertising 30% to 70% off fines. They paid the fine with stolen card details and took about half its value in cash from the driver.24 RTA said in November 2025 that a page offering 50% off was not its own,25 and in March 2026 that emails using its logo and offering up to 50% off were fake.26

Will there be a National Day discount in 2026?

Possibly. No National Day campaign had been reported by 6 November 2026, but in four of the last five years none had been announced by this date either. Ajman’s 2024 campaign, on 1 November, is the exception.9

  • When. 15 of the 16 National Day announcements since 2021 came in November, most in the second half. The other came on 2 December.
  • How much. 50% each time, until Umm Al Quwain’s 40% in 2025.8
  • Who. Umm Al Quwain ran one every year from 2021 to 2025, opening on 1 December. Fujairah ran one from 2021 to 2024, Ajman in 2021, 2022 and 2024, Ras Al Khaimah in 2021 and 2024, Sharjah in 2021 and 2022.
  • Extensions. Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah extended in 2021.27,28 No extension was reported from 2022 to 2025.
  • Ramadan and Eid. No traffic fine campaign was reported for either from 2021 to 2026.

Will a campaign cover your fine?

Only if the fine was issued before the campaign’s cut-off date. Check the cut-off first, not the payment window.

The cut-off usually falls close to the opening date, so a recent fine may be covered. Umm Al Quwain’s cut-off in 2021, 2022 and 2023 was about 31 October, a month before its window opened, so a November fine missed out. In 2024 and 2025 it moved to 1 December.

Which fines never get a discount?

Every scheme in Table 4 leaves out serious violations. In Abu Dhabi and Sharjah that includes a red light, a phone at the wheel and tailgating.

Table 4.Main violations left out, by scheme. The Abu Dhabi and Sharjah lists are longer.
SchemeLeft out
Abu Dhabi, list from December 2019More than 60km/h over the limit, red light, distraction including a phone, not keeping a safe distance, sudden swerving, alcohol or drugs, causing death or a serious accident, fleeing an officer, not giving way to emergency vehicles, school bus stop sign offences, overtaking on the hard shoulder, a noisy vehicle
Sharjah, 40 violations, July 2025All of the above, plus window tint offences, parking at fire hydrants or in disabled bays, stopping on the road without reason, crowding at accident scenes, not stopping after a minor accident, and pedestrian offences

What happens to your black points and impound?

A discount on the fine does not always clear the points.

Table 5.Black points and impound, by scheme.
SchemeEffect
Abu DhabiIn 2019 the 35% rate also covered the impound fee and late fee, and the 25% rate did not. The 2026 notice does not repeat this. Neither says black points are removed under this scheme
Sharjah35% covers the fine, impound period, impound fee and late fee. 25% covers the fine only. Traffic points are excluded
The 18 campaigns in Table 3Reports state points and impound relief for 14 of the 18, except for serious violations. Reports of the Umm Al Quwain campaigns of 2022, 2023 and 2025, and of its September 2021 offer, say nothing either way

Should you pay now or wait?

On past campaigns, only fines from Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah could gain from waiting.

  • Dubai. Dubai Police says discounts were stopped.1 It warns that unpaid fines can lead to impound, legal action and suspended vehicle transactions.53 Its teams seized 497 vehicles with accumulated fines in the first half of 2026.54
  • Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Pay inside 60 days. No fine campaign for motorists has been reported in either emirate since Sharjah’s in March 2023.
  • Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. A campaign may come in late November. In 2025 only Umm Al Quwain was reported to run one. If your car is registered in Dubai and renewal is due first, RTA lists paying vehicle fines as a basic requirement for renewal.55

Can you pay your fine in instalments?

Yes in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

  • Dubai Police. Its payment page offers monthly instalments by direct debit or credit card, subject to its terms.2 Emirates 24/7 reported in August 2026 that the card plan runs for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, needs a total above AED 3,000, and covers Dubai Police fines only. The Emirates ID must be the vehicle owner’s, and the bank must approve. It named Emirates NBD, ADCB, FAB, DIB, Emirates Islamic, Mashreq and CBI.56
  • Tabby. Dubai Police named Tabby as an instalment option in August 2026.54 RTA offers Tabby in up to four instalments.57
  • Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Police offers interest-free instalments through banks.5 Gulf News named Mashreq, ADIB, ADCB and FAB in February 2026.58 Emarat Al Youm’s 2022 list also named Emirates Islamic.59

How do you claim a discount?

  1. Find where and when the violation happened. The fine notice shows both.
  2. Open the channel for that emirate. Abu Dhabi uses TAMM or the Abu Dhabi Police website.58 Sharjah uses the Sharjah Police website or the MOI app.49 Past campaigns used the MOI and police apps, Sahl kiosks and service centres.60
  3. Check the reduced price before you pay. If it does not show, ask the police force that issued the fine.

Can you ask for a fine to be reduced?

Ask the police force that issued your fine what applies.

In Abu Dhabi, the Judicial Department lists a service for asking the Public Prosecution to move traffic violations to the court, to object to them or have their value reduced. You need a statement of violations certified by Abu Dhabi Police. The page shows a fee of AED 0 and gives no reduction rate. It says the judgment is not open to opposition.61 The department also has a Traffic Fine Reduction Request form.62

Dubai Police’s page lists a request to review a violation and reassess its recorded details, and no reduction.2

The small print
  • Dubai. No published date marks the end of the 2019 scheme. Gulf News reported the second year as running from 6 February 2020.20 Emarat Al Youm’s March 2026 report gives no date.1 The statement comes from a press interview, not a Dubai Police notice.
  • Abu Dhabi’s clock. Abu Dhabi Police counts the 35% from the date the violation was committed and the 25% from the date it was written.5 WAM’s 2019 report counts the 35% from the date of the fine.4 The 2026 notice attaches the dangerous violations exclusion to the 35% rate. Al Bayan’s 2019 report applies it to both rates.48
  • Abu Dhabi’s list. The list in Table 4 dates from 2019 and may have changed. The 2026 notice gives no list.
  • Sharjah’s clock. The Executive Council counts from the date of the offence.6 WAM’s October 2025 report says within 60 days of receiving it.63
  • Sharjah’s history. A standing discount began on 1 April 2023.30 Sharjah Police told Al Khaleej that the July 2025 decision widened the list of excluded violations.64
  • Campaign dates. Khaleej Times gave 1 November 2022 as Ajman’s cut-off,65 and other reports gave 11 November.35 Sharjah’s 2021 campaign was described as 50 days but ran to 31 January 2022.16 One Gulf News report gave 2 December 2024 as Ras Al Khaimah’s start,12 and other reports gave 1 December.10 Gulf News gave Fujairah’s 2022 window as two months, and Emarat Al Youm as 60 days.
  • Ajman’s occasion. Ajman’s 2022 and 2024 notices name no occasion. Press reports group them with National Day offers, and this page counts them the same way.39,32
  • Ras Al Khaimah, 2023. Its December 2023 offer came from the Public Services Department, not the police, and covered public fines.66 It is not in Table 3.
  • 2025. No Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah campaign was reported. None of the three police forces has said none ran.
  • From 1 January 2027. How Resolution 174 affects emirate schemes is not known.14
