Check before you buy

  • Total loss: a car is a total loss when repairs exceed 50% of its value. The policy wording pays the insured value less 20% depreciation, adjusted for time on cover. The car insurance page lists Agreed Value Cover, which it says pays up to the sum insured with no depreciation. Check your policy schedule.8
  • The base own damage section excludes natural disasters. You need the perils of nature cover in Smart or Executive.8
  • Off-road damage is excluded unless a rider extends cover.8
  • Damage outside the policy territory is excluded unless a rider extends cover.8
  • Tyre damage is excluded unless the car is damaged at the same time.8
  • Accidents with an unlicensed driver are excluded. A driver with an expired licence is covered only if it is renewed within 30 days of the accident.8
  • Accidents while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are excluded.8
  • Racing or speed tests are excluded where they are the direct cause of the accident.8
  • Non-GCC, imported or modified vehicles are excluded unless declared in the policy.10
