Ras Al Khaimah Police cut two main roads to 80 km/h, with the radar at 101 km/h, in January 2025 and January 2026.12

Facts are as of 6 November 2026. Your policy is the same unified policy wherever you live in the UAE, so cover, excess and claims are in the guides. This page covers what differs in Ras Al Khaimah.

Who do you call after an accident in Ras Al Khaimah?

For a minor accident with no injuries, use the Saaed app. Saaed has handled minor accidents in Ras Al Khaimah since October 2010, and Ras Al Khaimah Police launched the Saaed app for reports in January 2021.34 Emarat Al Youm set out the three steps in the app in December 2020.5 Gulf News named the MOI or Saaed app for Ras Al Khaimah in December 2025.6 Saaed’s undated locations page lists a site here.7

The fee you pay in Ras Al Khaimah is not published. MOI shows AED 500 for a minor report and names no emirate.8 Press reports give Dh400 for a report against an unknown vehicle.9 Check the amount in the app before you pay. At the 2021 launch, the app listed replacement of a lost report and report renewal.4 Steps and how insurers use the report are in the accident report guide.

Where do you register, test and renew your car?

Ras Al Khaimah Police’s vehicle and drivers’ licensing department is the registration authority, and light vehicle renewals go through the MOI app. From 4 February 2018, Ras Al Khaimah Police said light vehicle registration cards would be renewed only through the MOI smart app, with owners completing the renewal themselves.10

Two authorities use the word “registration” here, and only one applies to your car.

Federal fees for heavier vehicles are AED 400 or 650 for 3 to 12 tonnes (private or public), AED 800 or 1,000 over 12 tonnes, and AED 120 for a private trailer.11 Documents, grace periods and lapsed registration are in the registration renewal guide.

Do you pay tolls in Ras Al Khaimah?

No. u.ae names toll systems for Dubai and Abu Dhabi only.14 You pay Salik when you drive into Dubai. See the Salik guide.

What is the speed limit and radar setting on your road?

Read the sign. Ras Al Khaimah Police announce limit changes road by road and do not publish a full list like Dubai or Ajman. Two announcements cover the emirate’s main corridors.

Gulf Today on the E11,1 Khaleej Times on the E18.2 Both report Ras Al Khaimah Police announcements.

A radar setting is not a higher limit. The sign is the legal limit, and from 1 January 2027 the federal regulation says speeding fines are calculated from the sign. Fine bands and the 2027 rules are in the speed limits guide.

Can your car be impounded at home?

Yes. Since 20 January 2025, Ras Al Khaimah Police and the General Resources Authority run a smart impound system. An owner whose car is impounded for a traffic violation can keep it at a location they choose, under electronic monitoring, instead of the impound yard. The service covers all vehicle types and most violations, and the owner may run the car periodically to protect it.1516 Neither report gives the fee. Ask Ras Al Khaimah Police for the daily rate before you apply. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah fees are compared in the traffic fines guide.

Can you get a discount on your fines in Ras Al Khaimah?

Only during a campaign, and none has been reported in 2025 or so far in 2026. Ras Al Khaimah Police ran 50% campaigns in 2020, 2021 and 2024.171819 The 2024 offer ran from 1 to 31 December for violations committed before 1 December 2024, excluding serious violations, which the reports do not list.1920 The 2021 campaign was extended to 17 January 2022.21 The 2020 campaign covered plates from across the UAE.17 In December 2023 the Public Service Department, not the police, offered 50% off public fines.22

u.ae lists Ras Al Khaimah eGovernment among the platforms for paying traffic fines, alongside the MOI app.23 Fines and points are federal: see the traffic fines guide and the fine discounts guide.

What do you do when rain damages your car?

Ras Al Khaimah Police have announced no rain damage certificate route of the kind Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah have. Photograph the car, its plate and the water level, then ask Ras Al Khaimah Police which certificate your insurer needs and ask your insurer what it will accept. Whether your policy pays is a question of cover: see the flood insurance guide.

How safe are Ras Al Khaimah’s roads?

The emirate’s Statistical Yearbook 2024 carries Ministry of Interior figures to 2023.

RAK Statistical Yearbook 2024.24 In 2023 the yearbook attributes 13 of the 43 deaths to insufficient distance between cars and 9 to neglect and lack of discipline (Table 9-13). The Ministry’s 2023 cause workbook on Bayanat, taken in the Ministry’s emirate order, gives 237 accidents for Ras Al Khaimah, not 268; the two Ministry-sourced series differ and both are kept here.25

The same Bayanat series, in the same order, gives 186 accidents for Ras Al Khaimah in 2025, 21.5% fewer than in 2023 and the only emirate block to fall.26 The basis for that attribution is in the UAE traffic statistics study.

About the Bayanat figures

The cause workbooks carry no emirate column. The Ras Al Khaimah block is identified for 2023 by matching the Ministry’s published fatigue counts by emirate and taken in the same position for 2025.2526

For 2025, Ras Al Khaimah Police reported in May 2026 that road deaths fell 12.6%, run-over accidents 4.1% and serious accidents 2.5%, without giving the counts.2728 MOI’s open data file “Traffic Cases 2025” records 786 traffic cases opened in Ras Al Khaimah in 2025. The file does not define a case, so it is not an accident count.2930 TomTom put Ras Al Khaimah’s 2025 congestion level at 24.0%, with 33 hours lost in rush hour over the year.31

The yearbook also records 79,472 light vehicle registrations in 2023, of which 78,356 were renewals and 1,116 first registrations.24 National series are in the UAE traffic statistics study.

Which insurers are based in Ras Al Khaimah?

Ras Al Khaimah National Insurance Company, trading as RAKINSURANCE, is the one insurer on the Central Bank’s September 2026 register that carries the emirate’s name. It is listed as a national insurance company, number 7.32 Its car cover, claims route and company details are on the RAKINSURANCE page. Insurers from other emirates sell here through branches; Al Buhaira lists a Ras Al Khaimah branch.33 Where an insurer is based does not change your policy wording, which is set by the Central Bank’s unified policy.
