What to know before you insure your Tucson
| Your question | The answer | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Does your Tucson drive all four wheels? | It may. The 1.6 T-GDI and the 2.0 each come with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Off-road cover usually needs four-wheel drive. | Tell your insurer exactly which engine and drive you have. |
| Is your Tucson a hybrid? | It could be. The Tucson Hybrid pairs a 1.6 turbo with a 44.2kW electric motor for 230ps. | Tell your insurer if you have the hybrid. |
| How much does a Tucson cost? | Prices start at AED 104,500 for the Smart and AED 125,000 for the Premium (1.6). The value on your policy differs by version. | Check the value on your policy against your invoice. |
| Planning to drive off-road? | Damage off the road is excluded unless your policy adds it. Comprehensive policies that add off-road cover ask for four-wheel or all-wheel drive. | Ask for off-road cover before you go, and check your car qualifies. |
| Want the dealer to do your repairs? | This is called agency repair, and it depends on your car’s age. Al Wathba limits it to cars up to two years old, Al Sagr and Orient Motor Plus to three. After year three, it is up to your insurer and an extra premium. | Ask how many years your policy includes it. |
| Would a flood be covered? | Not under standard terms, which exclude natural disasters. Some insurers add flood or storm cover. | Check your policy names flood and storm. |
